The
road traffic engineering design specialty of SMEDI was founded in 1954. It
is one of the earliest design institutes being engaged in the road traffic
design specialty. After the pioneering work for 40 odd years, it has the
design, study and planning capacities in the aspects of the urban road,
various grades of highway, viaduct, grade separation, special kinds of
testing road, factory and mine roads, square, parking ground, airport
runway, road network planning, urban traffic and etc. There are 57
professional technicians, among them 25 senior engineers including the
professor senior engineers headed by the state class great master of
design Mr. Cui Jianqiu.
Over
40 years, SMEDI has undertaken and designed about 1000 projects of various
road traffic works involving various conditions of soil, climate, terrain
and filling-sea-to-build road for more than 20 provinces, cities and
autonomous regions in the country and 4 foreign countries.
The
road traffic works designed by SMEDI has won many prizes of excellent
design and science and technology advancement issued and by the State, the
Ministry, the Municipality and the Army. Since 1980, SMEDI has won 1 grade
II prize of science and technology advancement issued by the State, 6
grade I, II and III prizes of science and technology advancement issued by
the Ministry and the Municipality, 2 silver medal prizes of excellent
design issued by the State, 36 grade I, II and III prizes of excellent
design issued by the Ministry and the Municipality, 1 Luban prize issued
by the Ministry of Construction, 1 prize separately of Shanghai Baiyulan
and Shanghai ten-best landscape, 1 grade I prize of excellent project
issued by the Army and 1 grade II prize of excellent standard issued by
Shanghai Municipality.
SMEDI
also took part in the compilation of <<Urban Road Design
Standard>> of the Ministry of Construction and was the chief editor
of <<Installation Technical Regulations of Shanghai City Road
Traffic Facilities>>.
SMEDI

construction units, does its bit for the construction of the road traffic
